The worldwide wait of WordPress community is finally over. WordPress version 4.0 is finally here for download and it's nicknamed “Benny.”
According to the official WordPress.org Blog, the new and improved WordPress version 4.0 was named in honor of jazz clarinetist and bandleader Benny Goodman.
WordPress 4.0 is available for download now just as it's available to update automatically from your WordPress Dashboard. Because it's a major release, you will have to manually trigger the update from your WordPress dashboard. Only security releases get automatically updated without any manual action.
Matt Mullenweg, Founder of Automattic, says in a blog post that Benny, or WordPress 4.0, is not just another version number. “We feel we've put a little extra polish into it,” Matt wrote.
“This release brings you a smoother writing and management experience we think you'll enjoy.”
